I rented a bicycle and managed to get my camera and tripod all the way up the road in time for this spectacular cloud formation to perfectly cover the harsh light of the sun. This area of Japan is known for their great vistas of patchwork fields – perhaps more well-known within Japan, because I don’t think the Japanese countryside is the common image of Japan. It’s a pity though, since so many of my great experiences in Japan were in smaller countryside towns.
